FISPAN has had a great start to 2021, having seen rapid growth, team expansion, and new employee initiatives that all contribute to a greater employee experience here at FISPAN. From company socials to health and well-being, let’s take a look back at some of our Q2 highlights when it comes to events and employees.
THE EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE
Global Fitness Tour
Although travel is closed, that hasn't stopped our team at FISPAN from pursuing a (virtual) fitness tour across the globe. Our goal is to cover the distance between our international workforce by running, swimming, skiing, and biking our way to Odessa, Ukraine, all the way from Honolulu, Hawaii, with multiple stops across Canada and Europe. Within the first three months, we’ve already travelled 14,401.2km, outperforming our monthly goal to get to 21,000km by the end of the year (but no surprise there from our ambitious and determined team)!
After an exciting start to the year, FISPAN held a virtual, company-wide murder mystery event for all employees at the beginning of the second quarter. We had the opportunity to collaborate and compete in several mini challenges, while our HR team surprised us with custom FISPAN snack boxes. At FISPAN, we believe in working hard and making time to enjoy ourselves, and this was a great way to connect virtually and have fun with our team.
Ask Me Anything (AMA)
In alignment with our value of transparency, our CEO, Lisa Shields, Head of Product and Strategy, Clayton Weir, and CTO, Val Novikov, conducted their first quarterly AMA sessions in April and May. These meetings are designed for employees of all departments to ask questions, reinforce openness across the organization, ensure awareness of company goals, and provide clarity as to the direction FISPAN is heading toward, both strategically and technologically.
As COVID-19 vaccinations roll out, we implemented the use of the SaferMe App to further prioritize employee safety as the return to office life begins. In addition to in-office protocols, we assure that our employees can feel safe resuming normal operations due to the app’s ability to identify exposure and transmission risks through high-tech contact tracing. Thanks to SaferMe, we’re one step closer to reuniting our entire team.
Today and everyday, FISPAN is committed to upholding employee mental health & wellbeing, especially during remote work. We recently participated in a 30-day CheckingIn Challenge that encouraged employees to increase their self awareness and practice daily mindfulness by recording their current feelings and mood. The challenge sent our team wellness reminders and inspired us to take a moment out of our day to pause and reflect on our mental state.
Over the past few months, we were excited to launch our first Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) program for full-time employees. As a company that prioritizes learning and development opportunities for everyone, we want to help our team confidently and comfortably plan for their future, and provide them with the adequate resources and knowledge to do so.
