Employee Spotlight: Miguel Goquingco

In this month’s employee spotlight, we’re getting to know Miguel Goquingco, our Partner Success Manager. As part of Service Operations, Miguel works hand in hand with our bank partners to ensure operational activities are moving along smoothly.

Miguel graduated with an MBA from UBC where he learned how important data is when making decisions. Prior to working at FISPAN, Miguel worked as an Enterprise Client Success Manager within the payments space.

What are your main responsibilities as a Partner Success Manager?

I am the main point of contact for FISPAN’s bank partners when it comes to operational issues. I also work hand in hand with our partners to see how improvements can be made to ensure each client is provided with the best client experience.

What’s one thing you’ve learned since working at FISPAN?

Everyone in the company plays a part in selling. Each position that we hire for makes a difference to every client.

What motivates you to wake up and get to work every day?

That this company is building a rocketship and each day we get closer to our north star!

Why did you choose a career in FinTech?

I have always been fascinated by finance and technology spaces. I think it starts with my dad building his career in finance. I learned a lot from him and my interest grew from there. As for technology, I saw how things changed when the internet started way back when. It was just amazing to see how different types of technology have moulded the world into what it is today.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started out in your career?

Base every decision on data.

What professional or personal skills are you looking to learn in the next few years?

I’ve always wanted to learn how to code!

What is a fun fact about you?

I have a 3-year-old Border Collie that my world revolves around.

What TV show or movie are you currently enjoying?

True Detectives 🕵️

How do you define success?

I believe success is relative. Yes, it is the culmination of hard work and perseverance. However, I think it’s also when you do or make something and you are proud enough to say, “Yeah, I did that!”.
